Visiting Thahab,
2012 – present

Visiting Thahab works on the level of relation–a kind of call and response–to intervene in public space and confront post-9/11 U.S. imperial anxieties.
Thahab questions the degree of assimilation allowed to muslim bodies x years after 9/11 and forces us to face the specter of fundamentalism, examining how that particular system of belief has overtaken the cartesian worldview. She engages with the representation of the body and the paradox of hypervisibility through absence. This series has been featured in exhibitions nationally and internationally in museums, festivals, and galleries, including a solo exhibition at the New Bedford Museum of Art (2018), Antwerp Queer Arts Festival, SPILL Performance Festival U.K., and featured in publications such as Phaidon's Art and Queer Culture(2019), Emergency Index Vol. 6&#38;amp;7, The Guardian, The Washington Post.

<description>There ‘s meaning in its steady glance, Of gentle blame or praising love, That makes me tremble to advance A word, that meaning might reprove. The haughty threat, the fiery look, My spirit proudly can defy, But never yet could meet and brook The upbraiding of a quiet eye.

Begins in Victoria park near Farmers' Market and at various locations downtown,&#38;nbsp;Performance will resume at 10:15PM at the Dunlop Art Gallery.Thahab (body in gold), uses humour and banal actions to engage the viewer intimately. For Performatorium, the artist will take the concept of these interactions and utilize them in specific spaces in Regina, cultivating actions informed by the environment.
